Madagascar Wildlife Experience
By far the biggest wild attraction in Madagascar is the lemurs, monkey-like primates thought to be distantly related to the African galagos and Asian Lorises. Lemurs are only found in Madagascar, with more than 1000 species currently recognized, ranging in scale from the baboon-sized indri to the tiny, hamster-sized pygmy mouse Lemurs. Most species are diurnal and spend much of their time in trees, but the charismatic ring-tailed lemurs and Verreaux’s sifaka are largely Terrestrial.
Most lemur species are threatened, and many are restricted to small ranges. The reserves visited by wildlife tourists provide vital refuge for numerous species that would otherwise face extinction.

Best time to visit Madagascar in Africa
The best time of the year to visit Madagascar is between September and December after the cool , dry winter but before the really hot rainy season . Lemurs give birth at this time , so there is a good chance of being able to see and photograph infants with their mothers. Birds are also most vocal and conspicuous at the time. Chameleons and other reptiles are least active between June and August , which is the coolest time of the year.
