Best time overland in Tanzania parks
Weather wise, the best time for viewing in the northern Tanzania is june through march. Late december through february and july , August are the busiest periods . April and may is traditionally the rainy season . However , since the seasons are not as pronounced as they were a few decades ago , overlanders traveling during that period of may in fact , encounter little rain. Advantage of traveling in April and may include lowers rates , fewer tourists and good game viewing in parks such as Serengeti , Ngorongoro crater . This is wonderful time as there is good chance to a certain times that you will be able to experience the area without other vehicle sights.
Little rain falls usually in late October and early December and they generally offer little negative effect on the actual game drive in some reserves and the best months to visit the southern parks ( Ruaha , Nyerere, Mikumi, Sadaani ) are July to October although June is also quite good.

Lake Eyasi
Lake Eyasi lied on the southern border of the Ngorongoro conservation area and is Tanzania’s largest soda lake . The remote region is seldom visited by overland travelers and is the home to the hadzabe Bush men and the Dotoga tribe . A visit procures a more genuine picture of traditional tribal life than what visitors glean in the touristy areas.
Hadzabe Bushmen are traditional hunters- gathers who speak a click language similar to that of the San of Southern Africa. This lake is about 1.5 hours drive from the karatu -ngorongoro crater road and its even recommended on self drive safaris to Tanzania.
