SEMILIKI NATIONAL PARK
This is one of the newly set up National Park in Uganda most famous by Sempaya Hot springs. It is found in western part of Uganda at the border of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is said to be the extension of the Ituri forests of Democratic Republic of Congo. The hot springs here have water of above 1000C. The temperature is too high to the extent that boiling food and eggs doesn’t take even long for less than ten minutes. The park has Primates like the Grey -cheeked monkey, red tailed monkey and animals like elephants, pygmy antelopes and many animals here
ACTIVITIES IN SEMILIKI NATIONAL PARK
Hot spring visit
This national park is famous for the Sempaya Hot Springs, with both the male and the female. The male Hot spring is called Bintente, and the female is called Nyasimbi. Tourists hike up to these hot springs that are known to have waters of above 1000 degrees and some even cook their foods here in only ten minutes and even the vegetable. Here a lot of birds gather and can be watched by visitors at Mumbuga springs that provide salt licks to many animals
Bird watching at Semiliki National Park
Semiliki National Park has over 400 bird species and out of the 216 species are true forest bird species making it a haven for avid bird watchers, some rare birds here include, Lyre-tailed honeyguides, SSasis olive greenbul bird and nine hornbill species. its famous for the abundance of birds that resides in the bush, near eater bodies
Game viewing
The game park has over 60 mammal species like, African civet, African Elephant, Mona monkeys, bush babies pygmy scaly, red tailed squirrels. Game viewing mostly start in the early morning and evening
The tranquility nature of the park won’t make a visitor to regret and game viewing would be a best activity at the Semiliki National Park
Nature trekking
There exists amazing nature walk after visiting the Semiliki National Park. The Kirumia trail will grant you 8 hours walk along the park that has bird watching animal watching, vegetation through the forests of Semiliki into the River Semiliki, the river is surrounded by many butterfly species and on trees due to the canopies of the forest the visitors can as well see the endangered Bazzas monkey using the red tailed monkey trail extending towards the eastern border of the Park
