A refined beachfront resort set on a private, palm-lined stretch of shore in Gisenyi (Rubavu), on the shores of Lake Kivu, Africa's sixth-largest lake, with the Virunga Volcanoes as a dramatic backdrop. Formerly the Kivu Sun, it's one of Rwanda's premier lakeside retreats, offering a relaxed "bush-to-beach" counterpoint after a gorilla trek or forest safari. A three-storey property arranged in two sections around the swimming pool, set in manicured gardens above a sandy beach reserved for hotel guests. About 160 km (roughly 3 hours) by road from Kigali, or a short flight, and minutes from the DRC border town of Goma.

Standard rooms are cosy and comfortable with queen or twin beds, a seating area, writing desk, and a private balcony or patio overlooking the water, while the six luxury suites are almost double the size with an added lounge and larger balconies. Every room features air conditioning, satellite TV, a minibar, tea and coffee facilities, an electronic safe, and an en-suite bathroom with bathtub and hairdryer, all finished to international standard.
