History of Aberdare National Park

Aberdare National Park was established in 1950 with the aim of conserving and protecting the Aberdare Mountains. Since then, it has grown to a size of an area of 767 km2

The streams and rivers are from the uphill of the mountain, flowing towards the valley, making waterfalls. The temperate grassland borders the bamboo forest and also rich, diverse rainforests.

There exist some waterfalls, and these act as a home for the wildlife; among the predators are lions, leopards, African wild dogs, hyenas, jackals, and the African golden cat. Though there is other wildlife within the park, some of the species here include bushbuck, buffalo, reedbuck, giant forest hog, warthog, and the endangered black rhinoceros.

There is a home for over 250bird species, of which the major ones include the African Fish Eagle, African goshawk, and so many others.
